Repairing Asheville

As co-founders of SOCAP and most recently Neighborhood Economics Rosa Lee Harden and Kevin Jones have worked tirelessly for economic justice through impact investing.

Tragically, the entire Neighborhood Economics office, as well as, Rosa Lee and Kevin’s home, was wiped out by Hurricane Helene with a 3-foot river of water gushing directly through it. Right now, they need our investment in order to get back to their vocation of repairing local economies, starting right where they are in Swannanoa, the area hardest hit by the storm, the area that was on the cover of both the New York Times and the Washington Post because of the massive destruction in that specific area.

While we want to offer strong support for those impacted, we also aim to honor their legacy by directly investing in underrepresented entrepreneurs in and around Asheville—many of whom have been hit hardest. These entrepreneurs have lost their buildings, had to pause their work, and now need support more than ever to rebuild their futures and their devastated communities.

We are currently raising matching funds to ensure that for every dollar contributed to repair our office and sustain the essential work of Neighborhood Economics, an additional dollar will be invested directly back into these entrepreneurs and the vital work they are doing.

If you have been grateful for the work of Neighborhood Economics, for the deep commitment of Rosa Lee and Kevin, and, if you believe repairing local economies is more important than ever, we invite you to give.

All gifts will be tax deductible through our partners at Pure Charity and Hope Mob.
